Closure of Cashless Treatment Scheme in Emergency (CTSE) in Indian Railways

The Indian Ministry of Railways has issued a notification (No. 2020/H/28/1/CTSE Scheme) on October 16, 2023, announcing the closure of the Cashless Treatment Scheme in Emergency (CTSE) in Indian Railways. The CTSE, which provided cashless treatment in private railway empanelled hospitals, was initially launched as a pilot project in metro cities and later expanded across all Indian Railways.

However, the notification states that, with immediate effect, the CTSE has been withdrawn, and the option for availing the CTSE card facility in retirement or settlement documents will also be removed. No refunds will be issued for the amount deposited for CTSE subscriptions. This decision has been made after careful deliberation and with the approval of the Competent Authority in Railway Board.
