In this fast, there is a law to worship with Tesu flower. That’s why this fast is called Tisua Somwar Vrat.

The four Mondays in the month of Chaitra are called Tisua Mondays. Lord Shri Jagannath is worshiped on these Mondays. On the first Monday with jaggery, on the second Monday with jaggery and coriander, on the third Monday with panchamrit and on the fourth Monday with raw, cooked, all kinds of dishes are offered to the Lord. After this the worship is done. It is believed that by observing fast on these four Mondays with devotion, one gets freedom from all the troubles. It is believed that Sudama first worshiped Lord Jagannath. Sudamaji went to Jagannath Dham for worship.

On the way he assured many victims that the Lord would seek a vow in the court of Shri Jagannath for their happiness. It is said that seeing the reverence of Sudama, Lord Jagannath stood in the guise of a Brahmin outside Puri. When Sudama asked the Brahmin the address of Jagannath Dham, the Lord told that only after entering the fireball behind him, the Lord would have darshan. When Sudama rose to enter the ball of fire, God gave him a vision. When Sudama prayed to remove the sufferings of all the victims he met on the way, Lord Jagannath gave him a cane and said that all the troubles of the one whom this cane kills will go away. It is believed that since then on the beginning of the Shukla Paksha of Chaitra, devotees worship Lord Jagannath on Monday with devotion and eat his cane and pray to remove their suffering
