The quadratic equation in its standard form is ax2 + bx + c = 0, where a and b are the coefficients, x is the variable, and c is the constant term. Quadratic equations are equations of the form y = ax2 + bx + c or y = a(x – h)2 + k. The shape of the graph of a quadratic equation is a parabola.

The solution or roots of a quadratic equation are given by the quadratic formula: (α, β) = [-b ± √(b2 – 4ac)]/2a
α = (-b-√b2-4ac)/2a and β = (-b+√b2-4ac)/2a
