5th CPC DA increased from 412% to 427%.
The Ministry of Finance, Government of India, has issued an Office Memorandum (OM) regarding the revision of rates of Dearness Allowance (DA) for employees of the Central Government and Central Autonomous Bodies. This revision applies to those employees who are continuing to draw their pay in the pay scale as per the 5th Central Pay Commission.
The OM states that the rate of Dearness Allowance will be enhanced from the existing rate of 412% to 427% of Basic Pay, effective from 1st July 2023. This increase in DA will provide a boost to the salaries of the employees and help in managing the rising cost of living.
The OM also mentions that the provisions contained in the previous OM dated 3rd October 1997 will continue to be applicable while regulating the Dearness Allowance under these orders. It further instructs all organisations under the administrative control of the Ministries/Departments, which have adopted the Central Government scales of pay, to comply with the revised rates of DA.
This revision of Dearness Allowance is a welcome move for the employees of the Central Government and Central Autonomous Bodies. It will not only help in maintaining their purchasing power but also provide them with some relief in the current economic scenario.
