Modifications in Instructions on Booking of Air Tickets on Government Account in Respect of Leave Travel Concession (LTC)

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has recently made some modifications to the instructions on booking air tickets for government employees in respect of Leave Travel Concession (LTC). These modifications aim to address the concerns raised by government employees regarding the settlement of claims, particularly for those who have not retained the screenshot of the authorized travel agents’ webpage during the booking process.

With the approval of the competent authority, the following changes have been made to the prescribed procedure:

  1. All three authorized travel agents, namely M/s Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., M/s Ashok Travels & Tours, and IRCTC, will now be allowed to book air tickets on government accounts for LTC purposes.
  2. Government employees can now submit their claims for reimbursement of airfare directly to their respective departments, even if they haven’t retained the screenshot of the authorized travel agents’ webpage.
  3. However, in case of any discrepancy or doubt, the concerned department may seek additional information or documentation from the employee to verify the authenticity of the claim.

These modifications have been introduced to provide more convenience to government employees and streamline the process of booking air tickets for LTC. It is important for employees to carefully follow the revised instructions and provide all necessary information and documentation to ensure a smooth reimbursement process.
