UDID Card as Disability Verification for ECHS Beneficiaries

The Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has issued a letter (No. 22(09)/2021-D(WE/Res-I)) dated 25th May 2022 to the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, and the Chief of Air Staff.

The letter states that the Unique Disability Identity (UDID) card can now be used as a disability verification and identification document for authentication of Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) beneficiaries with disabilities, as well as for the preparation of the White Card under ECHS.

The instructions mentioned in the letter will be implemented from the date of its issuance. The Ministry of Defence (Finance/Pension) has provided their concurrence to these instructions. The letter is signed by N.C. Pasi, Under Secretary to the Government of India.

Sir,

I am directed to convey the sanction of the Government for acceptance of Unique Disability Identity (UDID) card also as disability verification / identification document for authentication of ECHS beneficiary with Disability under PWD Act 2016 and preparation of White Card.

  1. The instructions will be implemented from the date of issue of this letter.
  2. This issues with the concurrence of MoD (Finance /Pension) vide their Note No. 32(08)/2022/Fin/Pen dated 10.05.2022.
