New Military Training Regulations for Territorial Army Units

May 6, 2023 Eliza

The Ministry of Defence has announced two notifications regarding the Territorial Army Regulations and Rules. The Territorial Army (Amendment) Regulations, 2023, specifies that officers will be permitted to count all commissioned service in the Territorial Army for increments of pay, except for the training period during Pre-Commissioning Training.

The Territorial Army (Amendment) Rules, 2023, amends the rules for military training in Territorial Army units, including Pre-Commission Training for candidates appointed to non-Departmental Territorial Army units.

It also specifies that Post-Commission Training will only be given to Departmental Territorial Army officers and exempts ex-officers commissioned in Territorial Army through the Army Headquarters Selection Board (ASB) from undergoing Pre-Commission Training if they have undergone adequate military training in their previous service in the Armed Forces.
