The Central Organisation, ECHS (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme), located at Thimayya Marg near Gopinath Circle in Delhi Cantt, issued a memorandum on 17 May 2023. The memorandum, marked as B/49770/AG/ECHS/Treatment/2023, was addressed to various military headquarters and regional centers involved in ECHS operations.
The memorandum pertained to the extended validity of referrals for orthopaedic prosthetics cases. It highlighted that orthopaedic prosthesis treatments involve multiple visits by patients, spanning several months. Customized prostheses are often procured from foreign sources, which takes approximately 4-6 weeks. Additionally, the approval process for unlisted procedures (SEMO approval) takes around 7-10 days.

EXTENDED VALIDITY OF REFERRALS FOR ORTHOPAEDIC PROSTHETICS CASES
- Orthopaedic prosthesis entails multiple visits by the patient which are spread over several months owing to the fact that customized prostheses are procured for the patient from foreign also (taking atleast 4-6 weeks), apart from that time taken for SEMO approval for unlisted procedures is 7-10 days.
- sanction of MD ECHS is hereby accorded for extended validity of referrals for patient undergoing orthopaedic prosthetic management for 06 months.
