Ministry of Railways grants Special Casual Leave to Technical Officials

The Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) has issued a clarification/corrigendum regarding the grant of Special Casual Leave to technical officials. According to the new decision, technical officials involved in the administration of tournaments will not be considered as part of the team, but will be entitled to avail of Special Casual Leave for a maximum period of 30 days in a calendar year. This decision is based on the provisions of the Department of Personnel & Training’s O.M. No. 6/1/85-Estt.(Pay -I) dated 16.07.1985, and will also apply to technical officials attending pre-selection trials/camps for national/international sporting events. The Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways has concurred with these instructions.

Sub. : Grant of Special Casual Leave to technical officials – regarding.

Ref.: Railway Board’s letter no. E(Sports)2008/Policy/1(SCL/Duty) dated 22.04.2008.

Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), after consulting Department of Personnel & Training (DoP&T), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions have decided that the technical officials concerned with administration of the tournaments will not be treated as part of the team but will be given the facility of availing of Special Casual Leave for a period not exceeding 30 days in a calendar year as is admissible in the case of persons covered in para I(iii) to (vii) of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoP&T)’s O.M. No. 6/1/85-Estt.(Pay -I) dated 16.07.1985 (copy enclosed) read with DoP&T’s O.M. No. 6/1/85-Estt.(Pay -I) dated 07.11.1988 (copy enclosed). This will also cover their attending the pre-selection trials/camp connected with sporting events of national/international importance.

  1. These instructions issue with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board).
