The Indian Ministry of Railways has issued a circular to all Indian Railways/PUs regarding the revision of the rates of Cycle (Maintenance) Allowance. The rates of Cycle (Maintenance) Allowance were revised in accordance with the recommendations of the Seventh Central Pay Commission. However, some of the Railways/Divisions have not implemented these instructions. The circular is a re-circulation of the Board’s letter dated 11.08.2017, which contains instructions regarding the grant of Cycle (Maintenance) Allowance. The Railways/PUs are requested to acknowledge receipt of the circular and comply with the instructions contained in it.

Consequent to. implementation of Seventh Central Pay Commission’s recommendations, the rates of Cycle (Maintenance) Allowance were revised vide Board’s letter mentioned under reference.
It has been brought to notice of Board that Board’s instructions regarding grant of Cycle (Maintenance) Allowance are not being followed / have not been implemented by some of the Railways/ Divisions.
The instructions regarding Cycle (Maintenance) Allowance as contained in Board’s letter No .F(E)I/2017/AL-7/1 dated 11.08.2017 are therefore being re-circulated for information/compliance.
