Proposing National Importance Status for Sainik Schools

The Government of India has no plans to declare the 33 Sainik Schools as institutes of national importance. However, the government recognizes the importance of these schools in shaping future leaders of the country and acknowledges the significant role their alumni have played in nation-building, particularly in the armed forces. Out of the 33 schools, 23 have an alumni association, and the government has approved a scheme to set up 100 new Sainik Schools in partnership with NGOs, private schools, and state government schools in all states and union territories. The Sainik Schools Society has already signed an MoA with 18 new schools under this scheme
