The Government of India has no plans to declare the 33 Sainik Schools as institutes of national importance. However, the government recognizes the importance of these schools in shaping future leaders of the country and acknowledges the significant role their alumni have played in nation-building, particularly in the armed forces. The Sainik Schools Society has already signed an MoA with 18 new schools under this scheme
