January 25, 2023 by Eliza Leave a Comment

The Government of India’s Ministry of Railways, through the Railway Board, has issued a reminder to all Zonal Railways and Public Utilities to ensure the timely filling of promotional vacancies through various modes such as selection, non-selection, Trade Test, Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE), and General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE). The instructions were last reiterated in a letter from the Board dated 26.05.2022. The All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) had raised concerns that GDCE examinations were not being conducted regularly by the Zonal Railways. The Board has now reiterated that Railways should make use of the GDCE scheme to fill direct recruitment quota vacancies in a timely manner, and Zonal Railways should plan for GDCE intake when placing indents for direct recruitment vacancies.
