TN Government Pensioners Health Fund Scheme 1995 Overview

The Tamil Nadu Government Pensioners Health Fund Scheme, 1995 was introduced as per G.O.Ms.No.562, Finance (Pension) Department, dated 11.07.1995. Deduction Rs.5/- was made from the Pension payable to the State Civil and teacher Pensioners and Medical reimbursement claims for Rs.50,000/- or 75% whichever is less, incurred by the Pensioners or their spouse were sanctioned as medical assistance. The subscriptions recovered were subsequently raised to Rs.150/- p.m and the medical assistance was increased to Rs.1,00,000/- w.e.f.01.04.2008 as per G.O.No.188, Finance (Pension) Dept., dt.09.05.2008 consequent on the implementation of Tamil Nadu Pensioners New Health Insurance Scheme, 2014, from 01.07.2014, the Health Fund Scheme was dispensed with effect from 30.06.2014. The New Health Insurance Scheme is being administrated by the Commissioner of Treasuries and Accounts. Consequent on the implementation of National Health Insurance Scheme -2014 (NHIS) the financial assistance under the Tamil Nadu Government Pensioners Health Fund 1995 is stopped as instructed in Government Letter No.38717/ Finance (Pension) Dept., Dt. 16.07.2014.
