Srimad Valmiki Ramayana in Hindi
Srimad Valmiki Ramayana is an early epic of Sanskrit literature, composed in Sanskrit language in anushtup verses. In this, the best and comprehensive description of the character of Shri Ram has been presented in a poetic form. Being composed by Maharishi Valmiki, it is called ‘Valmiki Ramayana’. At present, all the texts available based on the character of Rama have their origin in Valmiki Ramayana by Maharishi Valmiki. Maharishi Valmiki, the progenitor of Valmiki Ramayana, is considered as ‘Adikavi’ and that is why this epic is considered as ‘Adikavya’. This epic being a reflection of important dimensions of Indian culture, is a renewable fund in the form of literature.
Valmiki Ramayana Characteristics
Valmiki Ramayana is a unique epic in terms of poetic qualities. Scholars are of the opinion that this epic is the basis for the definition of Sanskrit poetry. There have been many inspirational and guiding texts for his writing style before other composers, but there was no such composition in front of Maharishi Valmiki which could guide him. Therefore this epic is completely his original work. In this epic of his, Maharishi Valmiki has rendered nature-illustration, dialogue-combination and theme in a unique style. Mention of Valmiki Ramayana in ancient texts – Agnipuran, Garuda Purana, Harivansh Purana (Vishnu Parva), Skanda Purana (Vaishnav Khand), Matsyapuran, Raghuvansh composed by Mahakavi Kalidas, Uttar Ramcharit by Bhavabhuti, Maharishi Valmiki and his epics in many ancient texts like Ramayana is mentioned.
