NPPA Price List 2022
The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has announced a price hike on around 800 essential medicines with effect from April 1. These medicines are included in the National Essential List of Medicines (NELM). The increase in drug prices on the basis of the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) is around 10.76%.
Details of NPPA:
- NPPA was constituted by the Government of India in 1997 as an attached office of the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers as an independent Regulator for the pricing of drugs and to ensure the availability and accessibility of medicines at affordable prices.
- It was made to fix/revise prices of controlled bulk drugs and formulations and to enforce the price and availability of the medicines in the country, under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1995-2013 (DPCO).
