Tariff Rates Revised for Foreign Postal Articles Gazette Notification 2022

G.S.R. 402(E) .—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10, read with section 74 of the Indian Post Office Act, 1898 (6 of 1898), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Indian Post Office Rules, 1933, namely:-

1. Short title and Commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Indian Post Office (Amendment) Rules, 2022.

(3) They shall come into force after two days from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Indian Post Office Rules, 1933 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), for rule 5,the rule shall be substituted, namely:-

5. Foreign Postal Articles.-

(1) The following rates of postage shall be chargeable on the postal articles to be sent by surface where the postage is prepaid, namely:-

3.	PRINTED	USA	a. Up to first 20 gms.	35.00
	PAPER		b. For every additional 20 gms or part thereof up to 2000 gms.	25.00
		For all countries	a. Up to first 20 gms.	27.00
		except USA	b. For every additional 20 gms or part thereof up to 2000 gms.	17.00
4.	Blind Literature Packet	For all countries	Exempted from Postage
5.	Post Card	Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan	8.00

		UPU Countries(Except APPU Countries)	12.00

(2) For the postal articles to be sent by Surface Airlifted (SAL) mail the surcharge shall be charged, in addition to normal surface mail rates, as under :-

3. For rule 5A of the said rules, the following rule shall be substituted, namely-
“5A. (1) The following rates for postage shall be chargeable on the gross weight of M Bag of printed matter when the postage is prepaid, namely:-
