In the West Bengal Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme, female heads of families will get a monthly income support from Government. This income support will be in the form of monthly installments with no interest or conditions attached. The scheme aims to boost the lives and livelihoods of women who are not dependent on men for survival.

Through this scheme, the government is going to provide Rs 500 per month to general category families and Rs 1000 per month to SC/ST families. Nearly 1.6 crore households of West Bengal will benefit from this scheme. This Scheme has been launched by keeping in mind the state’s monthly average consumption expenditure of a household which is Rs 5249. With the help of the financial support provided through this scheme, 10% to 20% of the monthly expenditure of a beneficiary will be covered. The benefit amount under this scheme will be directly deposited into the bank account of the beneficiaries.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant must be a citizen of West Bengal
• All the families of SC and ST categories can apply under this scheme
• Most taxpayers will not be eligible for this scheme.
• The General Category Citizen with more than 2 hectares of land cannot apply under this scheme.
