Sub: Declaration of Bohag Bihu Festival As Holiday in Assam
Sir,
It has been brought to our notice by the various unions of Central Govt. Employees Organization that Bohag Bihu which is one of the most important festivals in Assam has been kept out of list of holidays this year. In the previous years, it has been declared a holiday every time but to keep it out of the list of holidays by the Central-state co-ordination committee Assam is beyond to understand.
This year it has been put In the list of Restricted Holidays. Our State co-ordination committee of confederation and various organizations requested to Smt. N. Maimam, secretary of C.G. Employees Welfare co-ordination committee, office of principal Accountant General (A&G) Assam, Guwahati but nothing has been done in this regard.
As this has become the sentimental issue in Assam and employees in Central Govt. departments are very much agitated which may cause disruption in smooth functioning of departments.
It is therefore requested to kindly cause necessary instructions to all concerned to declare Bohag Bihu to be celebrated on 16 April, 2021 as a holiday.
An early and positive action is highly solicited.
With Regards
Yours Sincerely
(RN. Parashar)
Secretary General
