Vijayadashami is celebrated as victory of Lord Rama over Demon Ravana and also triumph of Goddess Durga over the buffalo Demon Mahishasura. Vijayadashami is also known as Dussehra or Dasara. In Nepal Dasara is celebrated as Dashain.
Shami Puja, Aparajita Puja and Seema Avalanghan are some of the rituals which are followed on the day of Vijayadashami. According to Hindu division of the day, these rituals should be done during Aparahna time.
Vijayadashami is celebrated on October 26, 2020 Monday as per Govt. Dopt 2020 holiday list.. Vijayadashami is also known as Dussehra. Vijayadashami is celebrated on the 10th day from no moon day in the month of Ashvin. Lord Ram destroyed Ravana on Vijayadashami.
Ram Lila will be held at many places in india where the huge cut-outs of Ravana, Kumbhakarna will be set on fire. In Bengal, Kolkata this day celebrated as Bijoya Dashmi. It marks the end of Durga Puja, Dasara celebration. The idols of Goddess Durga will be immersed in lake, river, sea on this day.
On this auspicious day, devotees will begin new ventures. Education for small kids ‘Aksharabhyasam’ will begin on this day. Kids will be made to write ‘Om’ in a plate of rice.
