Sub: Counselling of Train Guards – provision of Guards’ Counsellor on Zonal Railways-reg.

Ref: NFIR’s letter No. II/34/Part 15 dated 16/12/2016.

Federation vide its representation dated 16/12/2016 requested the Railway Board (MS & MT) to provide a mechanism for counseling Train Guards and issue instructions to the Zonal Railways for creation of required number of ‘Guard Counsellor’ for counselling the Train Guard category to ensure safety to the travelling public. Federation feels that though a period of more than a year has passed, there has been no progress on the subject. It is however learnt that some Zonal Railways have sent proposals to Railway Board seeking approval for creation of posts of Guards’ Counsellor”.

While enclosing copy of NFIR’s letter dated 16/12/2016, Federation once again urges upon the Railway Board (MS & MT) to kindly consider the need for provision of ‘Guards Counsellor’ on Zonal Railways and accord approval to enable the Zonal Railways to ensure counselling of Guard category similar to the Loco Pilots/ALPs. Action taken in the matter may be apprised to the Federation.
