The Secretary (E),
Railway Board,
New Delhi

Dear Sir,

Sub: Engagement of Contract Medical Practitioners (CMPs) including Dental Surgeon-Revision of terms and conditions-reg.

Ref: Railway Board’s letter No. 2013/E(GR)II/1/5 dated 20/05/2014.

**********

The terms and conditions for engagement of Contract Medical Practitioners (CMPs) including Dental Surgeon were revised by the Railway Board vide letter dated 20/05/2014 wherein the period of engagement of these Doctors has been enhanced to ten terms on year to year basis with each term of engagement not being more than one year.

In this connection Federation brings to the kind notice of the Railway Board that shortage of Doctors in the Railways continues even now though

  • the Government has raised the superannuation age of Doctors to 65 years and
  • the Railways have issued instructions to engage even retired Doctors to meet with the necessity.

Incidentally, Federation desires to mention that some of the UPSC empanelled Doctors joined Railways may leave Railways as has been the past experience, for pursuing higher studies or for joining elsewhere. This situation would again lead to heavy shortage, necessitating utilization of CMPs.

NFIR, therefore, requests the Railway Board to relax the present condition of 10 years term suitably for availing the services of CMPs beyond the term of 10 years.

Yours faithfully
S/d,
(Dr. M. Raghavaiah)
General Secretary
