OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject:-Regulation of pay of officers of Central and State Services appointed as Under and Deputy Secretaries to the Government of India.
The undersigned is directed to refer to this Ministry’s Office Memorandum No.3(26)Est.III/57 dated the 4th September 1957 as amended or clarified from time to time on the above subject and to say that the President is pleased to decide that the pay of the officers of the different services mentioned therein shall be regulated in accordance with the provisions contained in the afore-said Office Memorandum (subject to the same conditions, restrictions and limitations laid down from time to time) also on their appointment to the posts (Secretariat or non-Secretariat) under the Central Government which are declared to be equivalent in status and responsibiilties to that of an Under Secretary/Deputy Secretary to the Government of India provided the manner of selecction for such posts is just the same as in the case of Under Secretary/Deputy Secretary, as the case may be.
2.The declaration that a post is equivalent in status and responsibilities to that of an Under Secretary/Deputy Secretary should be issued by the
Administrative Ministry concerned in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
3.These orders shall take effect from the date of issue and cases which were regulated otherwise shall also be governed by these orders from that date.
4.These orders, in so far as they are applicable to the officers of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, have been issued after consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General.
