New Delhi, the 27th January, 1979.

OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject:-Central Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 1973- Fixation of pay of Government servants who opt for the revised scales of pay from a date subsequent to 1.1.73.

The undersigned is directed to invite a reference to this Ministry’s Office Memorandum of even number dated 29th September 1978 whereunder the pay of all Central Government employees who opt for the revised scales of pay from a date not later than 31.12.75 in respect of the posts held by them on 1.1.73 may also be fixed under the provisions of Rule 7 of CCS (Revised Pay) Rules, 1973 and the employees were allowed a period of three months from 29th September, 1978 to enable them to indicate their option in regard to the date from which they want their pay to be fixed in the revised
scales. Representations have been revised that the period allowed for exercising the option may be extended by another three months. as this Ministry’s office Memorandum dated 29th September, 1978 has not been circulated in many offices in time. The President is, accordingly, pleased to decide that the period for exercising option under this Ministry’s O.M. dated September, 1978 he extended further upto 31st March, 1979. The Ministries/Departments of the Government of India are, however, requested to ensure that these orders are brought to the notice of all concerned
immediately, so that the interested employees are able to avail of the opportunity of exercising the fresh option within the stipulated period, as it would not be possible to extend the period for exercising the option beyond 31st March, 1979.

2.In so far as persons serving in Indin Audit and Accounts Department are concerned, these orders issue after consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
