OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject:- C.C.S.(R.P.) Rules, 1960 – Identical scales of pay-
The undersigned is directed to say that consequent upon the revision of pay scales under the C.C.S. (R.P.) Rules, 1960, certain posts carrying identical prescribed scales of pay may have been brought on to non-identical revised scales of pay and vice versa, with effect from 1st July, 1959.
2.A point has been raised as to how the rules regarding fixation of pay etc. of persons appointed from one post to another carrying identical prescribed or revised scales of pay should be applied after 1st July 1959.
3.It has been decided in consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General that
(i) if the prescribed scales of the two posts were identical prior to 1st July 1959 and the revised scales of pay from 1st July 1959 are not identical,
service rendered prior to 1st July 1959 may be treated as service rendered in an indentical scale, for the purpose of increment in a revised scale
or for any other purpose; service rendered after 1st July 1959 will not, however, be treated as service in an identical scale;
(ii)if the prescribed scales of the two posts were not identical but the revised scales of pay from 1st July 1959 are identical, for the purpose of
counting service for increment, and for any other purpose, the scales will be treated as identical only from 1st July 1959.
