OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Applicability of Revised scale of pay to Government servants who had been holding a higher pre-revised scale of pay on personal basis.

The undersigned is directed to invite an attention to Note below Part ‘A’ of the First Schedule to CCS(RP) Rules, 1986. Based on the  provisions of this Note the employees drawing pay  in the Selection Grades before the date of publication of 1986 Rules ibid [viz. 13-9-86] were fixed in the  revised scales corresponding to the selection grades  and the pay so fixed was allowed on personal basis.  Some Ministries/Departments have raised doubts
regarding the revised scales applicable to these  employees w.e.f. 1.1.96. In this connection it is  clarified that the Government Servants who are
holding selection grade scale on personal basis, shall be allowed corresponding revised scale of pay as notified vide Part ‘A’ of the First Schedule to
CCS(RP) Rules, 1997. The pay scale and pay so fixed shall be personal to such employees.

2.In so far as persons serving under Indian Audit & Accounts Department are concerned these instructions issue in consultation with teh C&AG of India.
