OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Setting up of Search Committees/Search-cum-Selection Committees

Attention of all Ministries/Departments is invited to DoPT’s OM no. AB.14017/11/2004-Estt. (RR) dated 25.05.2009 on the subject mentioned above conveying the direction of the ACC that the Selection Committee/Search-cum-Selection Committee should recommend panels in the order of merit. The ACC has, however, observed that in some of the cases submitted by various Ministries/Departments, the Selection Committees/Search-cum-Selection Committees are not recommending the panel in order of merit/preference.

2. In view of the above, the ACC has reiterated that unless statutorily required not to arrange the names in the panel in the order of preference, the Selection Committee/Search-cum-Selection Committee must invariably indicate the order of preference.

4. All the Ministries/ Departments etc. are requested to ensure compliance of these instructions.
