Union government wants retirement age 62

May 29, 2013 rajasinghmurugesan

The Union Government is seriously considering raising the retirement age to 62 for Central Government employees. Obviously, if the Congress announces this before the Lok Sabha polls, it could expect a sizeable vote share. North Block, which houses the Union Ministry of Finance would be more than happy to have 62 years as the retirement age because for next two years the pension funds can accumulate.

The UPA2 also wants to put the next government in fiscal tight spot, or what is called the War Room effect of the AICC.

It would be better to increase the retirement age from 60 to 62 for those who are covered under NPS system i.e. recruited employees after 2004.Alternatively there should be an option who desire and do not

UPA Govt. should raise retirement age upto 62 years. This is a welfare steps for the govt. for its employees. By this UPA govt. may come in power again as happened during 2009 after implementation of 6th Pay Commission Report to employees.

The Union govt is very much justified in recommending the extension of retirement age from 60 to 62 yrsince being the guardian and care taker of all working hands at various levels can not discreminate among professors, scientits ,judges and other general employees who have ,same anatomy, physiology and liabilities in life rather much more than approved elite gp of pe!ople who have much more comortable and peaceful life in comparison to other civilian staff.pls follow uniform rule for civilian employees in the interest of justice.and to avoid humiliation for not becomlng profeessor, scientits,or judges in their life. Thanks

Sir, the Govt will be benefited on account of incresing of retirment age from 60 to 62 years, though these Two years the amount of retirment benefit of the employees will be heldup and the niterest amount of their dues and pension will also be heldup. On the other hand after 62 years of a human a series of deases may attack and very shortly his life will be smash. He may not enjoy the retirment life. Hence the Employees are shall be benefited from all corner like health, longivity if they will be retired in the age of 55. It will be beneficiary for the white elephant who are geting more facility and good salary without any work, but working class people will be looser.

Considering the pegging of retirement age at 62 years for the Central Government employees is a welcome step by the UPA dispensation ! With the availability of better health facilities in the present times one remains quite fit for the Government job even after the age of 62 years and therefore most of the superannuated Government officials seek re employment elsewhere in government and non-government organisations!! So it is better idea if their potential is continued to be tapped further by retaining them in the government employment until 62 years of age. But fair it will be if this is done within 2013.

If the Government extends retirement age from 60 to 62 in year 2014, it will be wholly discriminatory because in that case beneficiary employees would get double advantage i.e. extension of two years which means advantage of 7th Pay Commission in 2016 just before retirement. On the other hand those who are retiring this year in 2013, they would be deprived most resulting in gross discrimination. Government should, therefore, keep this in mind to curb disappointment amongst those retiring in year 2013. Therefore, best course would be to implement the policy in right earnestness from beginning of second half of year 2013 to avoid complications.

this is very toomuch because now a days the unemplyoid candidates is more. The cetral government is takeback the decision for 60 to 62 years. The union government will think about the unemployed population. when the age limit will decrease and give the chances to new candidate for government service.

Govt. proposal to enhance the age of retirement for their employees will be another blow to the young generations as they are already frustrated because of unemployment.Govt may consider the increase in retirement benefits instead of increasing the age.

This decision will also affect the generation of new employment, thus increasing unemployment.

It is a brainless decision. Only officers will be benefitted from it as they only do table works. It will be very cruelty to lower technical field worker, whose working capacity decreases after he crosses 50-55yrs of his age. So this decision of increasing retirement age to 62 is very crucial.

Extension of two years should be optional and they should be given only basic + DA, and no increment and allowances for the period of 62. It should be contract basics.

Every year lakhs of young people join the working class after completion of their education. Increase in retirement age will be a great injustice to these people as fewer jobs will be available.
