CSD DEPOT IN HIMACHAL PRADESH

Will the Minister of    DEFENCE     be pleased to state:-

 

(a) whether there is no Canteen Stores Department (CSD) Depot in Himachal Pradesh despite the fact that the number of serving soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families is more in Himachal Pradesh as compared to several other places;

(b) if so, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Government has received any proposals from the Government of Himachal Pradesh / Indian Army / CSD Organisation in this regard for setting up of CSD Depot in Una district of Himachal Pradesh;

(d) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government on the said proposal so far;

(e) the time by which the Government proposes to approve / set up CSD Depot in Una district Headquarter of Himachal Pradesh; and

(f) if not, the reasons therefor?

 

ANSWER

MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE (SHRI A.K. ANTONY)

(a) to (f): Government of Himachal Pradesh has requested this Ministry for setting up a CSD Depot in the State in view of the number of Servicemen, Ex-servicemen and their families residing there.

Land measuring approximately 188 kanals had been offered by Himachal Pradesh Government. However, the same was not found to be suitable, since some of it included khud / nallah. CSD has requested to the State Government to develop the above land through channelization / embankment and to allot suitable alternate land.

No time frame at this stage can be firmed up for setting up the Depot at Una.
