The embattled UPA government is set to give a bonanza to 60 million workers in the organised sector. The minimum monthly pension for members of the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) could soon increase to Rs 1,000.
Currently, most EPF pensioners receive less than Rs 500 a month, but for some it is as low as 4 and 12. Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge has sought immediate measures to enable the first revision in workers’ pension income in 11 years – an annual bonus was last doled out in 2000.

i have retired from my service on 31.01.2012 i have worked lastly In East India Pharmaceutical Works Limited as a Secretary to the Managing Directors for a period of about 17 years. Before that, I had worked three organisations e.g. Freyssinet Prestressed Concrete Co.Ltd (Bombay based firm) , Cico Engineering Services Pvt.Ltd. My total service period most likely would be 30 years – in spite of same, you will be wondering that I am getting pension only Rs. 1620/- per month. Is it good enough for a senior citizen like me, who were holding such a responsible position. After my retirement i.e. January, 2012, I had to do work in different organisation for the period of about 2 years but regret to inform that due to osteoarthritis problem I could not be in a position to continue for which I am totally depressed for the reason mentioned especially on a meager pension that I am drawing presently.

increase in minimum pension is a very good step of Government ,this is also advisable it should be link with DA, because after 10 – 15 years this amount will be same but DA will be 4-5 times of this amount
Government should also give option to member to deposit EPS contribution more than ceiling amount so that employees will get better pension at time of retirement
looking to the market cost wage ceiling should be increase for pension contribution this will be more beneficial to the members at time retirement

This news is not a new one to everybody regarding the epf pension some r thinking ther will be sudden increase .any how nothing is going to take place. i feel the pension fund is almost being reduced.other in the future there will be less people to turn out to productive sectors as they have no support in their last days.

For the last 3/4 years I have been listening that pension will be increased by Rs. 1000/- The UPA Govt. elected by persons who is AAM admi is unable to feed their children. The Hon’ble Minister HRD made several announcements in the whether in press/parliament but that promises could not be translated into action. Is it justification on the part of Govt. who is responsible for well being of the common man. It is irony of AAM ADMI that on one hand he is being beaten by skyrocketing prices of LPG/Foodgrain but served the companies of public sector for entire life. Now at this age, while human body goes beyond strength, children are marrigiable but unable to face his duties. We, the pensioners, are in hot water and looking towards annoucement of Govt. to increase pension. Please compare the amount of pension with other state Govt./public sector , we stand no where. I hope something would be done to avoid hardships.

Sir, Even the state Govt. pensions (for whom no deduction has been made or contribution has been paid) has been hiked to Rs.1000/- So, it is good to hear the news. The hike in pension may help them to fight with the present price rise of food/ medicines
