Judge Advocate General Department Examination Award
Officers of the three Services are granted a one-time award on qualifying the JAG Branch exam, which is presently ₹9,600. In the Joint Services Memorandum (JSM) it has been argued that this award is admissible to very few officers every year. Hence, it should be abolished and merged with Cat-III courses of Qualification Grant.
Analysis and Recommendations
This allowance should be subsumed under Higher Qualification Incentive for Defence Personnel, dealt separately in this chapter.
