 OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject:- Regulation of pay of officers of Central and State Services appointed as Under and Deputy Secretaries to the Government of India.

The undersigned is directed to refer to this Ministry’s Office Memorandum No.F.2(38)-E.III(A)/66 dated the 10th August, 1966, on the subject mentioned above and to clarify that fresh appointment of officers who are already in the senior administrative grade to posts of Deputy Secretary to the Government of India is not envisaged as they would be too senior for such appointment.  The intention of the above orders is only to raise the overall ceiling from Rs.2000 to Rs. 2250 in cases where a Central Services Officer is promoted on a pro forma basis to the senior administrative grade (viz. Rs. 1800-2000 or Rs.1800-2250) subsequent to his appointment as Deputy Secretary to the Government of India.
